Showers –Pay special attention to your bathroom when remodeling. Curbless or zero entry showers are becoming very popular. This trend not only makes the shower feel more incorporated into the room, but has the added advantage of being easily accessible for elderly folk. Overall, a spa-like design with clean lines and minimalist décor is taking hold. Luxury touches like waterfall faucets and heated floors will be popular.
Flex Rooms and Multi-Generational Designs - Wall mounted sinks for wheelchairs, walk-in bathtubs, raised countertops, and motion sensing faucets can make life easier for those with older parents moving in with them. These deeper, bolder colors will be showing up in wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and accessories. Metallic accessories will complement these shades and bring a glamorous touch as well.
Eco-Friendly Floors and Cabinets – flooring and cabinets with no added formaldehyde and non-toxic glues, binders, and finishes will rise in demand. Also, bamboo and other sustainable woods will become more popular.
