Remodel Your Staircase and Increase the Value of Your Home
Remodeling your staircase is one of the best upgrades you can make to your home. The staircase is a focal point that people see first when they entering your home. They can set the mood for the rest of your home. If your staircase is a little outdated (typical wood spindles, carpet wrapped edges, etc) it won’t take much to update it. Both from an aesthetic standpoint and resale value, remodeling your staircase will be well worth the time and money. Our design team can come up with a look that fits your current decor and really adds drama to your staircase.
Three Signs That Your Staircase is Outdated
Wooden Spindles – If your home is more than 15 years old, most likely you have wooden spindles on your staircase. That’s because 15 or 20 years ago, that was the “new” look Kansas City homebuilders were installing. Unfortunately, time marches on and that “new” look isn’t looking so new anymore.
Carpet Wrapped Treads – Another trend in homebuilding a decade or two ago was wrapping the ends of the treads completely in carpet. Today, this look really dates your staircase. A more modern look would be bare wood or carpet down the middle with the ends exposed.
Baluster Spacing – New building codes require balusters to be a minimum of four inches apart for both safety and stability. If your spindles are more than four inches apart, they are probably not up to modern building codes.
